Here's how to restart:
1. Remove the plant light and rods, and unplug the power cord
2. Throw away the plants you no longer want
3. Clean the pots and the base thoroughly with soap
You can use regular dish soap and a dish brush.
It's important to clean thoroughly to ensure there are no leftover coconut fiber or nutrients in the base when you restart (this can affect germination and growth).
If you spill some water on the wood, simply wipe it off with a dry cloth, and it will be fine. You may also want to let the Auk air dry for a day before starting up again.
4. Reassemble your Auk
5. Fill the pots with new coco fiber and plant your seeds
We recommend using fresh coconut fiber for the best results. You can use old fiber, but it often contains nutrients, roots, and an incorrect pH balance that can affect germination and growth. You can get more coco fiber in our online store.
Check the back of the seed packet for planting tips. You'll also find information on the product page for each seed.
6. Add water and nutrients
Fill up to max (3 liters/0.8 gallons if empty) and use 6 pumps of the green nutrient + 3 pumps of the red nutrient as usual.
7. Lower the light to about 10 cm (4 inches) above the pots
As your plants start growing, try to keep approx. 10 cm / 4 inches (doesn’t have to be exact) distance to the plants. That way they'll get the best light possible.
If you're only replacing some plants, we recommend trimming the larger ones so the light isn't too high above the newly sown pots. If the light is too far away, you may notice that the plants become tall and spindly (they're reaching for the light).
